Till the industrial revolution took place, only the rich could afford to buy curtains. These curtains were usually plain and coloured, and were made from silk or linen. In some homes, winter curtains were made from wool. The purpose of curtains has not changed over the ages; curtains are placed inside over windows to keep prying eyes from looking in to a home and to keep the interior of the house warm in winters. Curtains also blocked out exterior light.
Ring Top curtains are yet another variety of beautiful window curtains and speak for themselves. You have the option to use a wide variety of fabrics like silk sari, taffeta, polyester or with/without lining. These curtains impart a style of its own – elegant, sunny and charming beyond definition.
If you choose translucent curtains such as nets or sheer curtains which can often create a subtle light effect on your room during the day, it is important to remember that these curtains do not provide privacy, especially at night time. These types of curtains can be used in conjunction with opaque curtains to aid in desired privacy. These net curtains can aid in preventing glare during the day, although not totally blocking light. If your window requires more privacy during the day time from peering eyes, consider using sheer or net curtains, along with opaque curtains for night privacy.
